How can you use an online bible degree?

A Bible degree is a great achievement because it shows that you’ve been able to grasp and learn many of the important biblical truths in God’s word. While a bible degree doesn’t mean you know all of the bible it does mean you’ve study the major themes and structures of the Bible, and have taken classes on how to interpret and teach the ideas that are found in it.

With a bible degree whether you get it online or in person you can teach, preach, lead, and serve in your local church, Christian school, and more. With it you’ll be equipping not only yourself for your own spiritual walk with God, but preparing yourself to share it with others.

I hope you’ll consider all of these benefits and get into a bible degree program that will work for you!

Going Big & Getting Famous

Whenever someone makes it big like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, or President Obama, we frequently like to find out how they got there. We ask what did you do? How did you prepare? What single piece of advice would you give to someone trying to do what you’ve done?

While all of these questions are valid questions, and looking up to heroes is not wrong, Paul in his letter to the Ephesians tells of how he became who he was. He writes in Ephesians 3:7 , “I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power.” (NIV)

The amazing part of this verse to me is that Paul connects his “success” from an outward perspective to God’s grace in his life, not his own doing. And what this and the stories of other apostles like Peter who repeatedly messed but God still used, is that it tells me that the most broken and least broken people in the eyes of us can still be used by God for great things.

Remember that no matter who you are, as a Christian you are covered by the grace of God and that if we are willing to be used, we can be used by Him for things we can’t even plan or dream of.

Privacy today…

The Wall Street Journal released an article about the NSA’s possible efforts to monitor utility companies in the United States. (article - http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704545004575352983850463108.html) While the I can’t say anything about the impact of this project, it reminds us of how much of our lives can be tracked today. But the greater reality is that all of these attempts by man can never compare to what God knows and see.

David wrote about this in Psalm 139: 1-4 – “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord.” (NIV)

Or consider the Library of Congress’ attempts to capture and archive all of our thoughts on Twitter (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/25/magazine/25privacy-t2.html) They are capturing some of our passing thoughts and mindless comments, but still they can’t compare to the knowledge God has of us.

God knows us, and his plans for us, and loves us deeply. Remember that today!

DIY vs Created

Mark Suppes is building and testing a fusion reactor in his apartment in Brooklyn, New York. It’s an example of definitely DIY extreme. The DIY philosophy has made a resurgence via the internet lately, and this is just one example of what it can bring. But the amazing reality is what we can create on our own, or even in a group is so little compared to what God has created and made.

Consider Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (NIV)

This verse captures an amazing truth and concept for all of us to live by. That God has created us. He fashioned us because of his divine will so that he could have a meaningful relationship with us. He created us so he could know us and for us to know him.

It makes me think of what David wrote in Psalm 139: 13-14, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

What an incredible thought that God has so carefully created, formed, and knit us together.
